Onto page one of Google. With myself and a small team

My Name is Len McGrane. I grew up in here New Zealand, went to uni and got my first jobs here, then set off into Asia and lived and worked most of the next 20 years there and in the Middle East.

Our children were all born overseas, but when the oldest nudged into the teenage years my wife and I packed up and returned to New Zealand where we now live in earthquake-ravaged Christchurch. (It was once quaint, "English" and prosperous. The quakes have left it stunned.)

I am building websites and getting clients onto page one of Google with a small team of competent developers in the Southern Philippines.

I was employing Indian web developers for a while but have found Filipinos work better in many ways. I've lived in both India and the Philippines, actually, but am very happy with my present team.

Earthquake? What earthquake?

Just as an aside, let me say something about that earthquake ... a series of three large, shallow, close earthquakes shook this city over a period of nine months, from September 2010.

It's been declared by experts to be the world's most expensive earthquake and yet, miraculously, our house and this suburb have been only lightly touched. Just a couple of our brick chimney's broke and superficial cracks spidered across wall and ceiling plaster. In fact 15 hours after the first massive quake, power was restored to our street and I was able to walk into my home-based office, connect to the Internet and get back to work. I am very grateful.
